Is your lifestyle putting your health at risk?

Your height and weight are used to calculate your
Body Mass Index. Knowing your body mass index gives
you an idea if your body is at risk for chronic diseases
like heart disease, diabetes, some cancers and stroke.
Being overweight can put you at risk.

However, BMI does not take in consideration muscle and bone
structure. It is just one tool for knowing if you are at risk.

Measuring your waist gives you an idea of how much fat is
stored in your abdominal area. Abdominal fat is also related to
chronic diseases. If you are a male with a waist of 40 inches  or more and over 35 inches in females you are at risk. These are calculations for adults and teens 16 or older.

Pinch your waist on the side.  If you can pinch an inch or two
of fat at your waist you could benefit from losing weight.
Measuring simply gives your a place to start!
